The developement of vessels in the 24th century led to an explosion of technological revolution in the feild of data management. Data that had taken up whole databanks in the 23rd century could be stored on a couple isolinear chips, and moved about with ease. All Starfleet vessels had their systems refit with the same style chips, for data storage and access. Newer starships such as the Galaxy Class use these in nearly every system. This style isolinear chip was employed in new vessel designs until about 2365.
