TYPE 2B PHASER

Starfleets' R&D department, through the developement of the Sovereign Class Starship developed the third Type 2 Phaser to be deployed as a standard weapon in less than 10 years. This model was even more capable than previous models, it employed a frequency randomizing chip which added difficulty for any one trying to create any effective sheilding against it. Also it was designed to conform to the users' waist, for a more ergonomic design, and was smaller, more compact than the previous models. This model of the Type 2 Phaser saw wide spread application through out Starfleet. Most notably, few modifacations to this Type 2 Phaser were ever made.
