This version of the flip top communicator, had been used was to replcace an older model. This more capable version incorporated the latest in technology including automated distress beacon, emergency call button, multiple channel selector switch, frequency calibration display, tuned ferlite loop antenna grid, subspace transitter and reciever coil assemblies, and a Universal Translator. The flip top antenna grid, was proven to be a more reliable design in the field, prone to less jaming than the push button flip top design.
